HAYNI Selection, Autumn 2026
Our stylists in Japan chose the bags they want to carry as the season turns, along with outfits to go with them.
Soft suede and fine leather that fit easily into everyday life. Read why they chose each one, and how they would wear it into autumn.
The first bag to reach for this autumn
Stylist's pick: Donusa

The styling
Suede is exactly the mood right now, so this was the first bag I picked. I paired its perfectly warm brown with a butter-yellow top and white trousers. I went with soft, light colors this time, but I was torn until the very end about styling it with black.
The bag is on the larger side, so I wanted a feminine touch in the outfit. I layered a lace dress under the top. A pop of red as an accent would look lovely, too.
The day I pictured
A day off spent browsing vintage shops with friends in Shinsaibashi, Osaka's lively shopping street. It has just the right easy presence for a relaxed weekend.

Why I chose it
What I love most is how much it holds. A wallet, a camera, all the little things, and it even fits A4 documents, so it works for plans after work, too.
The warm brown blends easily with almost anything you wear. Suede softens in your hands the more you use it, and this is the bag I want to take out on sunny days.

A little play with pattern
Stylist's pick: Selmora

The styling
To let the paisley stand out, I kept the outfit simple in white. I wanted to echo the brown in Selmora, so I tied a dark brown layered skirt around my waist.
The base color is brown, so it goes well with pink, butter yellow and black. It is honestly very easy to style. In autumn I would love it with corduroy trousers, and in winter with a fur coat.
The day I pictured
A family day trip to Awaji Island, just across the bay from Kobe. It works in every season.

Why I chose it
Paisley is surprisingly easy to wear with almost anything, yet it still has real presence. That is why I chose it.
And it is so light. It comes with two types of handles, so you can switch between shoulder and hand carry depending on your day. Things are easy to put in and take out, too, which matters when you carry a bag every day.

Small, and beautifully made
Stylist's pick: Calmea maron

The styling
I wanted the rich brown to stand out, so I let the bag take center stage with a beige shirt and a white bustier.
It would look just as lovely with black or grey, and I could not decide until the end. As autumn deepens, I want to carry it with a jacket or a fur coat, so I am looking forward to cooler days.
The day I pictured
Lunch with friends in Umeda, in the heart of Osaka. It is just as good for days out with friends as with family.

Why I chose it
I have been a fan of Saori for a long time, so this collaboration means a lot to me. The finished bag turned out exactly as I had hoped, and I love it.
It looks compact, but it holds much more than you would think. Two wallets, a towel, a reusable shopping bag, a camera, two lipsticks and even face powder, with room to spare. It fits into so many occasions.

Leather bags that always look put together
Stylist's pick: Vinnen maron

The styling
The handles and piping are black, so I went for an all-black outfit. It is a larger bag, so I chose a top with a slightly open back for a feminine touch, and tied a white shirt around my waist to lighten the look.
Once autumn really sets in, I would carry it with a jacket.
The day I pictured
A day of sightseeing and street food with friends in Kyoto. If the air conditioning gets chilly indoors, I can simply slip on the shirt.

Why I chose it
The piping along the sides gives the whole bag a neat, defined shape and makes it even more charming. It also suits the suede mood of the season, which makes it a favorite.
Things are easy to put in and take out, and it fits A4. I think it works as a work bag, and for a one-night trip, too.
